Too many NHS patients making the communal areas anti social. Im in addiction treatment programme at a cost of 17,000. 6 days a week, 9-5pm group therapy and encouraged to socialise with your group and discuss things together. We cant because the communal areas are over run with NHS patients who seem to be here on holiday. They just smoke all day, leaving mess everywhere, dirty cups and rubbish. The clearing up of the areas is done by the private patients who want a clean place to recover. We cant use the mixed communal tv room, as a schizophrenic NHS patient is allowed to do whatever he wants until 6am, then sleeps on the biggest sofa until 5pm leaving the room unusable in the day and smelly at night. Shoes MUST be worn at all times!!! Unless youre an NHS patient. They can do as they please. Its 01:30am and the room next to me has music blaring. I just phoned nursing staff to sort it out. The group therapy process and content is good. The food is excellent. The Priory is let down by its inability to enforce rules and standards on the NHS guests. If you are considering paying to get therapy here. Expect to get more stressed in your spare time than in the group sessions.
In 2016 I spent 28 days under Section 2 of the Mental Healthcare Act. I spent the first week without anybody(!) bothering to check if I had contact lenses or glasses.Legally speaking I was blind for a week. When I tried to use the phone line to call the good samaritans, I never got through until week 3. When I got through to them and I told them (briefly), the situation that I was in, they told me that they would not be able to help.I was prescribed 40mg of Olanzapine and 40mg of Lorazepam the first two weeks. HOWEVER, it was not all bad.It seems to me that the doctors have their hands tied due to the political nature of the company, which in my opinion is to keep individuals under "care" in order to profit - which they are able to do due to their "contractual" work-related benefits.At the time I saw a Mr. Nicholas Dunn, whom I owe an apology to. At the time I was under great duress, which does not mean that I forgive him for his negligent care for my stay during the time!The first day I was there, I blacked out after (from what I heard form a Victor Kotenko), I was stuck in the buttocks with a needle. The second night I awoke to hear Victor walking in to my room with his pants half-way down and his hand in between his legs. I was absolutely terrified the first day I was there, and as a result of that - I do not sleep very well even to this day. Victor had his own problems - as most people do. He told me that he used to be a psychiatrist in the NHS (he was over 70 when I met him). He had a wicked sense of humour, however every now and then, he would show me a side of him which was full of sorrow and regret. I refuse to judge people based upon the first impressions that we so often seem to make these days. I met several wonderful people during my stay there, whom some of I have kept in touch with. The staff were usually to intimidated (by whom I do not know), but that is no excuse to neglect a patients right to see. I had made it very clear the first time I told The Priory Group that I hold the intention to bring legal action, and that has not changed due to a half-hearted letter that may or may not have been sent to me in good-will.I do NOT recommend this facility.
The staff deserve praise. You saved my life and didnt judge or discriminate. In November 2016 i was admitted and stayed until February 2017. It must be said... i was in a terrible state. Chris, the therapy team and all care assistants helped me turn a corner and make progress. I will never forget your kindness
Excellent consultants and FABULOUS staff.Anyone who gets there on NHS you are lucky.I pay and not overpriced.Cant thank Dr.Church enough.and Nathalie.But all the staff a joy to talk to
From what i have seen the place is Really nice i have a family member staying at the moment as i type this review and from what i hear from them its a good place to be . they offer help to those that seek it . the place is more like a hotel . great food nice place 10 times better than the hospital .
